Nail Polish Chipping Tips

Chipping can be a bummer but with proper application and care, you can extend the life of your mani! Here are our tips:

  1. Maintain proper nail care by keeping them trimmed and filed to a uniform length, avoiding overly sharp edges.

  2. Apply a high-quality base coat before your polish to protect the nail surface and grip the polish. We love Grip Color Lock Base Coat.

  3. Paint THIN coats of polish - the thicker the polish the harder it will be to dry properly and the more likely it will be to chip.

  4. Finish with a top coat and always paint the free edge of your nail to seal the color and add durability. Reapply your top coat every other day for extended wear.

  5. Moisturize your nails and cuticles regularly to keep them flexible and less prone to breaking.

  6. Always wear gloves when doing tasks that involve prolonged water exposure or harsh chemicals, as these can weaken the nails and lead to chipping.

  7. Summertime means lots of pool, chlorine, lakes, rivers, and adventure time. As much as we want to tell you to wear gloves during all your activities, that's not possible. Sometimes in the summer, it's better to plan to have more manicure time or leave your nails bare and commit to a 12-week Rocket Nail Fuel growth cycle!
